The need to live “Form Free”

“The United States is the only developed country in the world that subjects its nonresident citizens to complex, ongoing, multiple, and frequently meaningless financial forms and reportbacks.  Recent new enforcement initiatives threaten to exacerbate the already onerous burdens imposed by longstanding American exceptionalism. The resulting current situation is fraught with uncertainty, inconsistency, and anxiety.”

The United States – AKA – “Form Nation” has imposed a tyranny of forms on its citizens. U.S. citizens abroad are required to file up to 45 information forms each year including FBAR and FATCA. The financial cost is crippling. As a result, U.S. citizenship has been priced out of the market.

Some things never change including the need to “Live Free”. But “freedom” is not free. As was noted by President Reagan:

Freedom is never one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our child in the bloodstream! The only way they can inherit the freedom we have known, is if we fight for it, protect it, defend it and then hand it to them with the well taught lessons of how they in their lifetime must do the same.”

Born Free”  is a song you may remember.  I invite you to remember it with a  slight modification to the lyrics. Sing along!

Form free, as free as the wind blows

As free as the grass grows

Form free to follow your heart

Live free and beauty surrounds you

The world still astounds you

Each time you look at a star

Stay free, where no walls divide you

You’re free as the roaring tide

So there’s no need to hide

Form free, and life is worth living

But only worth living

‘Cause you’re form free

(Stay free, where no walls divide you)

You’re free as the roaring tide

So there’s no need to hide

Form free, and life is worth living

But only worth living

‘Cause you’re form free

This blog about U.S. citizenship abroad is intended to document how through “citizenship-based taxation” and all of its requirements, the Obama administration has unleashed a “reign of terror” against some of its most Patriotic citizens. For U.S. persons abroad, the election of Barack Obama resulted in “change that we could never believe” and certainly not “change we can believe in“. This is one one of many  blogs documenting the plight of U.S. persons abroad.

Welcome to the story of the end of U.S. citizenship abroad. U.S. citizens abroad are being forced to renounce U.S. citizenship to protect themselves and their families.

Renounce U.S. Citizenship – Live “Form Free”!

It seems I don’t have time these days for all the commentary I would like to place, for the little good it accomplishes. I sometimes think it is all pointless, as the powers that be, and the current tidal wave of opinion is unstoppable, certainly by my insignificant comments on blogs. 🙂 It is not a pretty future, I fear, unless there is a major shift in political thought and opinion related to FATCA, DATCA, GATCA.

Actually I think your comments are about as good as they get – so keep up the great work! The comments and blogs of today will be part of the historical record when the world finally wakes up. The historical analogy would be the “Boston Gazette”

Some people make things happen. Some people watch things happen. Some people ask “what happened”? Your efforts put you in the first category.

It’s likely that only a small number of people cared about the American Revolution but it made a difference.

Who knows maybe history will describe you as the Paul Revere of the 21st Century.

        “The FATCANatics” are coming!!

NO! Just Me! Your comments online have helped me tremendously! They are so concise. Our voices are small and yes it’s a tidal wave coming at us. However, we need ALL the voices to state clearly what FATCA is, who it harms and why we oppose it. I appreciate your posts wherever I find them! Thank YOU!

PLEASE do not stop commenting on these world changing issues … FATCA in particular. I so appreciate reading what you say and am so grateful that there are others out there in cyberspace (including all the Brockers) that understand the terrible ramifications of the bureaucratic moves afoot.

Well, thanks for the encouragement, but I have been taking time off for some respite, backpacking in the Cascades to clear my mind of this FATCA and IRS offshore jihad nonsense. Then again, as soon as I open my computer, I seem to get hooked! LOL Catching up, and thanks for your comments.
